The Solar Uniquartier project is a real estate development project tied to the future Du Quartier REM Station in Brossard at the crossroads of Autoroutes 10 and 30. This is the first suburban TOD project of this scale in Quebec. The high-density neighbourhood includes multiple uses and is designed around a set of public spaces, including the ‘Place de la Gare’, which are structured and arranged to make this cluster a friendly and dynamic environment that prioritizes multiple modes of active transportation. The presence of automobiles on the surface is greatly reduced since parking areas are mostly located underground or in multi-storeys structures.

The design of streets, sidewalks and bike paths facilitates travel between parks, residential buildings, businesses and office towers and provides access to the train station. The street will be animated with terraces from businesses on the ground floor of buildings.

Oversized planter boxes will ensure the full development of street trees and enhance the quality of active trails. The canopy of these trees will also help reduce the potential heat island effect from urban development. Along the same vein, concrete pavement was chosen over asphalt to enhance the urban character of this new neighbourhood, invite vehicular traffic to slow down, and promote sustainable design.

All of these components will help make the neighbourhood a new hub for citizens and cement the City as a true metropolitan destination.
